- The McCarthys in Early American History O'Brien, Michael
J
Mr. O'Brien, who is a historiographer of the American Irish Historical
Society, has investigated the early history of the Irish
in America more thoroughly than any other historian. In the course
of his researches he has accumulated a mass of information about
the historical record of the McCarthys, a famous Irish family who
have been represented in this country since as far back as 1635,
only fifteen years after the Mayflower. Not a genealogy, but the
story of ancient family in Ireland and America. He appears rightly
incensed that the prejudices of the Irish seemed to offer historians
the opportunity to omit them from so many of the histories written
about early America. 1921. 322 pgs McCarthy crest & mottos,
frontis page, Very Good, 1st ed. Hardcover green cloth impressed,
Very Good, dustcover good, yellowing to the pages,

- East Longmeadow Massachusetts: 75 Years as a Town. Prepared
by the Town History Group
History of the town of East Longmeadow 1894-1969. To commerate the
town's 75th anniversary. Sounds like a short period for a New England
town, it is. Prior
to 1894, East and West Longmeadow, were simply Longmeadow
in the county of Hampden, Massachusetts. Founded in 1644 by Colonel
Pynchion in 1883 the town had celebrated it's centennial. This book
is rather drabb as it deals with the town officers, classes, departments.
It does contain allot of historical facts and some of the old Families
homes are nice to view. Not enough to justify it as history group
production. It should have been named a chamber of commerce piece
as it seems an add for the town council. 1969.
168 pgs. photos throughout. Papercover binding as a spiral notebook,
Very Good, Wonderful maps inside both front and end covers exhibiting
clearly the names of the family's properties.275
